Charlene Sears-Tolbert, M.A., CAP

After a career expanding over twenty years, Charlene Sears-Tolbert continues to work passionately as an administrator, therapist, and educator specializing in women issues, addictions, cultural matters, and relationships. She is currently the Executive Director for Shepherd’s Promise, transitional housing & supportive services program for homeless women with children.

Overcoming many barriers, including being a teenage runaway and a high school drop out, Charlene attended the University of Massachusetts majoring in Human Services Management. Earning a Bachelors degree with honors in Applied Behavioral Science she went on to achieve a Masters degree in Psychology with honors from National Louis University. A strong advocate of continuing education, she is currently enrolled in Rollins College Non Profit Management Program.

Charlene has conquered tremendous obstacles in her life such as incest, sexual abuse, substance abuse, physical abuse, homelessness, cancer, divorce, and other life situations. She has made it her life’s work to share her experience, strength, and hope to empower others. She is the author of the self-help workbook, “When Relationships Hurt: 52 Ways to Heal” and often conducts workshops and retreats based on this book.

Charlene resides in Orlando, Florida with her son, Shaka Yohance, and her miniature Yorkie, Penelope Ann. She is very active in her church and her community through numerous volunteer activities, and enjoys spending time with family, reading, exercising, and solving puzzles.
